Study in Italy — Step-by-Step Process
A clear path from checking eligibility to submitting your application, for the 2027/28 intake.
Why study in Italy
- •Up to €8,200 annual stipend on regional scholarships
- •No tuition fees at Italian public universities
- •Many programs don't require IELTS
- •Schengen visa access across the EU
- •Globally ranked universities
Step 1 — Check your eligibility
Confirm your course actually exists in Italy, and that you meet its CGPA and English-language requirements.
Step 2 — Gather your documents
Have everything ready before you start applying so you're not scrambling against a deadline.
For Master's applicants- • Valid passport
- • Bachelor's degree & transcript (or a Hope Certificate if still completing)
- • High school records
- • Two recommendation letters, if the program asks for them
- • A motivation letter tailored to the program
- • Proof of English proficiency — an MOI letter or IELTS
- • A CV, ideally in Europass format
- • Passport photo, plus job/internship letters and certifications if relevant
For Bachelor's applicants- • Valid passport
- • High school records (or a Bonafide Certificate if still pending)
- • Two recommendation letters, if required
- • A motivation letter
- • IELTS — required by most Italian universities
- • CV and passport photo
- • TOLC entry test results — required by most universities
Step 3 — Shortlist your programs
Search the course guides for your field, and keep a simple table of course + university pairs you're interested in. There are only around 50–60 Bachelor's courses taught in English in Italy, so it's worth scanning the full list.
Step 4 — Track admission dates & deadlines
Cross-check your shortlist against each university's expected admission window and deadline in our directory, and prioritise whichever closes soonest.
Step 5 — Apply directly
Apply straight through each university's own portal — our directory links to the official application page for every university, not to a third-party site. Requirements can differ program to program even within the same university, so read each listing carefully.
